Barry Karpay named ULI Tampa Bay District Council Chair

Barry Karpay, one of the Tampa Bay area’s leading experts in land acquisition and development with 41 years of experience, has been appointed Chair of the Urban Land Institute’s Tampa Bay District Council for 2017-19. Karpay serves as the area’s Vice President of Land Acquisition for CalAtlantic Group, one of the nation’s largest homebuilders. The company was created in 2015 when Standard Pacific Homes, where Karpay previously served as Vice President of Land Acquisition, merged with Ryland Homes. ULI Tampa Bay delivers report on City of St. Pete’s Skyway Plaza

ULI Tampa Bay recently completed a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) to address a critical neighborhood need for the transformational South St. Petersburg community. Encore Tampa is a featured ULI Case Study

Encore Tampa was recently chosen to be featured as a prominent ULI Case Study, which showcases innovative approaches and best practices in real estate and urban development. Encore is a mixed-use, mixed-income redevelopment of what had been public housing just north of downtown Tampa, Florida, developed by a partnership between a housing authority and a bank-owned community development corporation. ULI’s Resilient City Workshop

ULI Tampa Bay received a $20,000 grant to provide technical assistance to the City of St. Petersburg, Florida on improving climate resilience from ULI’s Urban Resilience Program, supported by the Kresge Foundation. As a coastal peninsula, the City is uniquely vulnerable to environmental disasters such as severe storms and storm surge flooding, coastal flooding, hurricanes, sea level rise, and high heat events.
